Primary in LD 9: Monica Martinez VS Angela Ramos

Ms. Ramos, why does a person run for office who does not “live” in the district and not take a leave of absence with a well-paying job with Suffolk County Probation Department?

In the 9 Suffolk County Legislative District  consisting of Brentwood, Central Islip and North Bay Shore, we have an incumbent who wants to debate and a challenger who refuses to debate the issues.

Generally speaking a debate can help the challenger. The arrogance of a challenger who refuses to debate issues speaks volumes about the qualifications of that candidate.

Legislator Martinez in the last few years has been like the Energizer bunny… She has made her presence known throughout the 9th LD. She does not duck controversial issues. She has the ability to unite rather than divide.

Ms. Ramos has not spoken out on issues and has only given the public a smattering of her background nothing about the issues. We do know that she has decided to use an address where she does not live in order to qualify as a candidate. This means she has registered to vote in an address she does not reside in order to “qualify” as a candidate in this Legislative District. She does not reside in the 9th Legislative District. Other legislators who have done this have been indicted. The fact that she has recently left her position with the Probation department means she is not employed. She did not take a leave of absence. That means that part of her resume is blank. She has no job. She is unemployed.

Ms. Ramos, why does a person run for office who does not “live” in the district and not take a leave of absence with a well-paying job with Suffolk County Probation Department?

Perhaps the residents of our district will answer this question on September 12, Primary Day. Your unwillingness, Ms. Ramos, to take positions and explain oneself makes it a no brainer for the voters of the 9th LD.
